Ms. Barnes is a recognized expert on the impact of divorce or separation on children.

During her thirteen year tenure as Executive Director of Kids' Turn, San Francisco (,  Ms. Barnes expanded the program to communities nationally and internationally.

She was the lead author of The Kids' Turn Way curriculum; and the author of The Kids' Turn WayOnline.  The Kids' Turn Way is based on Emotional Intelligence and is designed to help families when emotions are out of control in ways that are frightening and even dangerous for children.

She is currently writing a book focusing on the vital role of grandparents in families when parents separate or divorce.  The working title of her book is:
